Welcome the Spring Time, Sheung Wan Civic Centre

Our Master Tan prepared this evening for almost half a year mostly by herself. Thanks to her! Basically, all the singers were her students. Some of us had been learning with her for 4/5 years and I have joined them since August 2016.

It was my first solo performing on a proper stage and I had a wonderful time. I had a feeling that my fear of performance in public had been cured 80%. I felt quite relaxed from my second song onwards.

Practises made perfect! The thing was that we had been practising for almost 9 months and it was the last practise counted as always. The quality of the video was nothing to shout about, however, it
captured the idea...

Mid-Autumn Festival, Happy Valley Leighton Hill Community Hall

樂齡藝術團香港藍天歌舞團聯合舉辦
預祝中秋節
港島跑馬地區禮頓山社區會堂

We were invited by another chorus group (香港藍天歌舞團) to provide a joint performance in Leighton Hill Community Hall.
The occasion was to celebrate the Mid-autumn festival, which was a traditional festival of East Asian cultural circle folk, originated in ancient China. It fell on the 15th of August in the Lunar Calendar. It was also a traditional festival in South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Okinawa and Thailand.

It was the first time we performed together and it turned out to be a compliment to each other. Our group were more solid in singing and in fact, we all stood there and sung only. The other group looked more into show business than us, they dressed in colourful costume, sung and danced with different combinations. Nevertheless, the audiences were happy to have a free concert!

Celebrating the 20th anniversary, Hong Kong City Hall

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Federation of Alumni Associations of Chinese Colleges and Universities in Hong Kong
迎慶高校聯20週年
香港大會堂音樂廳
It's our 15 year old birthday, so we decided to celebrate it with a style! Since The Federation of Alumni Associations of of Chinese Colleges and Universities in Hong Kong (中国高等院校香港校友会聯合會) was also 20 years old, so we made it as a big event for both of us. The front and rear stalls were rather full and we all had a wonderful night together. Obviously there were many not so professional and not so polish acts in the show, but on the whole we pulled it through.
We invited a few famous artists to join us that night and I particularly amazed by masters  Zhilin Xie (謝芷琳) and Zhihua Li (李志華). They were both well into their 80s. Master Xie was a singer and with his advanced age, he still could sing a lot better than most of the youngsters. Master Li was playing the accordion and he was also amazing too. They both were very focused and concentrated on and off the stage. I respected them tremendously!
On the whole, we managed to complete the programs with one or two minor hiccups only! Thanks to our group leader Ms. Chen and our conductor Mr. Zheng. Surely, this would be one of the highlights in my singing "career"!
